Advanced tools for interactive design of simple controllers
ObhájenoThe aim of this thesis is to develop tools for process model identification, robust controller design for processes with uncertainty, and closed-loop performance optimization in the time domain.
In the first part, the control theory used in the author's approach is explained. The approach is focused on the controller tuning method using the robust stability regions for PI controllers, processes with uncertainty, the Model set approach, and the time domain integral criteria of optimality. In the second part, the state-of-the-art of the current controller design and process identification tools is analyzed. In the third part, the implementation of the identification module, robust controller design for processes with uncertainty, and a tool for closed-loop optimization in the time domain using the integral criteria is described. The gradient optimization method is shown here. In the final part, the functionality of the developed tools is validated on a real system
Interactive tools for computing multi-dimensional robust stability regions for simple controllers
ObhájenoThe aim of this thesis is understanding and describing the theory of robust stability regions, analysis of available simple controller tuning tools, and the combination of this knowledge in order to develop a graphical user interface for the design of these controllers.
In the first part of the thesis, the control theory and the robust stability regions theory is explained. The second part focuses on analysis of the state of the current online controller design tools. Next, the possibilities of controller design in the Matlab software are analyzed. In the third part, the implementation of the designed user interface is described. The ability to perform multi-criteria optimization is included in the user interface. In the final part of this thesis, the correct functionality of the developed interface is validated on selected examples
Design of robust PI controller by combining robustness regions with time-domain criteria
This paper describes the design of a robust PI
controller by considering several design criteria simultaneously
(multi-objective optimization). Firstly, all controllers satisfying
multiple frequency domain criteria (e.g. sensitivity function
limits) are found in PI parameter plane using robustness regions
method. Then, all suitable controllers are evaluated by the
selected time-domain criterion, for example: Integral Error (IE),
Integral of Time-weighted Absolute Error (ITAE) etc. Further,
application of H2 and H∞ norms is shown in that context.
The whole design toolchain is supported by advanced Matlab
GUI which was used in the illustrative example. The described
approach can be extended for PID controllers as well, for development
of advanced autotuners and for teaching and training
purposes.
